Harrison enjoyed an easy victory |
Audley Harrison returned from 12 months out of boxing to secure a seventh-round win over American journeyman Robert Davis in Temecula, California. The Olympic gold medallist from Sydney 2000 had not fought since picking a hand injury on the way to beating Tomasz Bonin of Poland a year ago.
Harrison, 33, floored Davis in the opening round, then forced the referee to stop the fight in the seventh.
"I am just glad to be back," said Harrison who now has a 18-0 pro record.
"Once I relaxed and figured out my opponent's tactics, I was able to use my jab, look for opportunities and take advantage of them when I could."
Harrison will now return to his base in Las Vegas and head straight back to training as he looks to finally break through into big time in 2005.
