Harrison remains undefeated in 17 fights |
Audley Harrison believes 2005 will finally prove to be his breakthrough year into the heavyweight big-time. The Olympic gold medallist returns from a 12-month lay-off in California on Thursday against American Robert Davis.
Harrison's much-criticised professional career has been laced with frustration but he said: "I always said 2005 would be the year I go for it."
The Briton has not fought since injuring a hand a year ago against Pole Tomasz Bonin.
At the age of 33, Harrison knows time is running out if he is to make an impression on the poor current world heavyweight division.
"I feel in great shape, my fitness is excellent and my hand is fully healed," he said.
Harrison, whose fight is being televised on the Fox Sports Network, can expect a reasonable test from Davis, who has fought the likes of Michael Grant, Joe Mesi and Lance Whitaker.
Davis has won 31 of his 37 fights, including 19 inside the distance.
But he has a suspect chin and has been flattened on each previous occasion he has stepped up in class.
