Dagenham's Nicky Cook will make the first defence of his European featherweight title in Brentwood, Essex on Friday 8 October. Cook was due to fight France's Johny Begue in July but Cook was taken ill and the fight postponed. The undefeated 24-year-old, also the Commonwealth champion, wants a world title fight before the end of 2004. Newark's Esham Pickering will appear on the undercard defending his European super bantamweight title.
