Wladimir Klitschko continued his comeback from the shock defeat to Corrie Sanders with a fourth-round stoppage of Danell Nicholson.

The Ukrainian ex-WBO heavyweight champion halted Nicholson with one minute 16 seconds left in the round.

Wladimir, 27, is the younger of the two Klitschko brothers who are aiming to dominate the heavyweight scene.

"It wasn't easy, but he moved a lot and it isn't easy to hit a moving target," said Wladimir.

"But the important thing is it will continue for me and Vitali next year."

Nicholson tied up the 6ft 7in Klitschko at every chance from the opening seconds of the bout in Germany.

And the American was penalized a point for holding in the second before being warned again in the third.

The end came quickly as Klitschko knocked Nicholson into the ropes with a left hook in the fourth, before following up with a series of punches.

After Nicholson got back up, the Ukrainian sent him into the ropes again and a short right to the head finished the bout.

"It wasn't an easy fight - but it was a good performance. His next fight will be for a world title," said Vitali Klitschko, who was in his brother's corner as usual.
