| Tuesday, 14 January, 2003, 09:51 GMT Harrison heads for Brentford ![]() Harrison won his last fight inside two minutes Olympic champion Audley Harrison will fight American Rob Calloway in his ninth professional contest next month. The bout, which will be the Englishman's first eight-rounder, will take place at Brentford's Fountain Leisure Centre on 8 February. Harrison beat Shawn Robinson inside two minutes in his last fight, which took place in Atlantic City back in November. Calloway, 33, has compiled a 44-3 record with 33 stoppages and holds the WBF intercontinental heavyweight title.
He has never been stopped but was highly fortunate when he came up against unbeaten Uzbek Ruslan Chagaev in October. Calloway was close to being stopped when a cut from an accidental headbutt forced the contest to be declared a technical draw. "We have seen undoubted improvement in his conditioning, stamina, punching power and technique," said Harrison's boxing advisor Colin McMillan. "I'm confident Audley is ready to begin the next stage of his development, and as such his next fight is scheduled to be his first eight-rounder." Calloway is a former Missouri Western State College basketball player and a health club owner. He spent much of his childhood on the run with his father, a convicted bank robber who escaped from prison twice. |
