Williams just ticking over
Danny Williams floors Julius Francis
Williams (centre) wants a fight in December

By now, most people know that I will not be fighting Corrie Sanders in November as hoped.

Because of my Muslim faith and the fact that Ramadan falls in November, it would not make sense for me to fight next month.

I had experience of fighting after Ramadan last year and I remember how weak I felt during training because of the fasting that I am required to do.

on Audley Harrison

I am hoping to get a fight just before Christmas - hopefully a tune-up - before going on to fight either Sanders or former Olympic champion Ray Mercer.

The other significant news is that I am now rated No. 1 by the European Boxing Union, which means I should get a chance for the title against Sinan Samil Sam.

I was quoted on a boxing website as saying that I would quite happily engage in a public sparring contest with Audley Harrison, over six rounds.

I'm just waiting to see if he is up for it.

He has started to wind me up a bit, because what I don't like is people saying things without backing them up.

I don't like him saying that he thinks he is ready to fight me skillwise but does not have the stamina to do it - that's why I'd fight him over six rounds.

My offer is, if he wants to back it up with me over six rounds he can try.

I see that David Haye, who I have sparred with and rate very highly, is turning professional.

In my opinion, he is ready to turn pro - it's just that I would have liked him to have made the transition after winning a big amateur tournament.

Obviously, he didn't win the Commonwealth gold and just decided he couldn't wait until the 2004 Olympics.

He assures me that he can make the cruiserweight limit because he wants to take the same route as Evander Holyfield, who won all the world titles at that weight before moving up to heavyweight.

Good luck to him.
