It's a great time to be a Welsh football supporter. It's a great time to be involved in Welsh football and it must be absolutely tremendous to be one of the players.

We've had memorable results in Cardiff before, but beating Italy in such a manner outshines all of them.

Italy had no answer to Bellamy's pace

Back in 1991 when Ian Rush scored to beat the then World Cup winners Germany, we were very lucky to a large extent.

They absolutely hammered us on the night, but we hung on and got the victory.

But there was nothing lucky about this result.

I thought we were the best side from the first to the last minute.

And don't forget we scored another genuine goal in the last ten minutes which should have stood.

The performance was simply fantastic. We've started something now that could be turned into something massive.

The players, the management - each one of them are heroes.

But like Mark Hughes has said, the job is far from done.

We'll all enjoy this moment, but it's important the players go back to their clubs with their feet on the ground.

They have to be ultimately professional and ensure the spirit in the camp is the same when they meet next month for the Azerbaijan game.
