Brits cruise into relay finals
Britain's Christian Malcolm hands over to Darren Campbell in the 4x100m semi-final
Britain's men were fastest in both relay semi-finals

Britain's men remained on course for a golden double as they eased into Sunday's finals of the relay events.

Dwain Chambers followed up on his gold medal in the 100m by anchoring the 4x100m quartet to victory in 38.55 seconds.

Chambers, Christian Malcolm, Darren Campbell and Marlon Devonish went more than half a second faster than Germany's winning time in the other semi-final.

Britain's 4x400m team enjoyed the luxury of resting star man Daniel Caines as they qualified fastest for the final.

Spain's Antonio Jiminez beats Simon Vroeman to the line in the 3000m steeplechase
Jiminez stunned Vroeman in the steeplechase
Matt Elias carried the baton home in a time of 3:02.97.

Spain's Antonio Jiminez outsprinted European record holder Simon Vroeman to win gold in the 3000m steeplechase.

Vroeman, who had run the fastest time by a European this season, held a comfortable lead coming into the final straight.

But he appeared to misjudge his pace and Jiminez surged past him on the inside in the last five metres to win in 8:24.34.

Spain's Luis Miguel Martin took bronze in 8:24.72.

Israel's Alex Averbukh won the pole vault title with a clearance of 5.85m.

Germans Lars Borgeling and Tim Lobinger both vaulted 5.80m but Borgeling took the silver ahead of his team-mate on countback.

Denmark's Wilson Kipketer and Germany's defending champion Nils Schumann won their 800m semi-finals to set up a repeat of their Olympic final showdown.

World record holder Kipketer had been expected to win in Sydney but he was upstaged by Schumann.

World champion Andre Bucher of Switzerland and Poland's world bronze medallist Pawel Czapiewski also qualified.
