Gold for Glory
100m hurdles champion Glory Alozie
Alozie took gold with a time of 12.73 seconds

Spain's Glory Alozie lived up to her name by taking gold in the women's 100m hurdles in the European Championships.

In a close race, Alozie finished first in 12.73secs ahead of Ukraine's Olena Krasovska in 12.88.

Bulgaria's Yana Kasova took the bronze medal with a time of 12.91.

Alozie won a silver medal for Nigeria at the Sydney Olympics after the death of her boyfriend in a road accident.

She made the switch to Spain citing neglect by Nigerian officials.

Britain's Diane Allahgreen made an excellent start and was in contention at halfway, but she tailed off and finished down in equal fifth place.

But it was a fine performance, and she was pleased with her display.

"I really went for it, but it was hard," she said.

"It's been a great year with two personal bests, I'm really pleased with it all, it's all come together."
