| |  Thursday, 8 August, 2002, 19:06 GMT 20:06 UK Tirlea takes gold  Ionela Tirlea retained her title with an impressive display Romania's Ionela Tirlea has retained her European 400m hurdles title in Munich. She beat home favourite Heike Meissner to gold in a time of 54.95, with Poland's Anna Olichwierczuk taking bronze. Tirlea had earlier limped out of the heats for the 200m but she looked in good form during the hurdles. However British pair Natasha Danvers and Sinead Dudgeon were unable to find their form. Danvers struggled in the outside lane and finished in seventh with a time of 56.93 as Dudgeon came last in 59.39. | |
