Paula Radcliffe on her way to gold
Radcliffe led the race from start to finish
Paula Radcliffe continues her superb run of form with the opening track gold medal in Munich in a sensational 10,000m.

The Briton leads from start to finish to win in a time of 30m1.09s - a new European record - ahead of Sonia O'Sullivan.

Dwain Chambers looks in stunning form, as the fastest qualifier for the semi-finals of the 100m. Darren Campbell and Jason Gardener also make the semis.

But Dalton Grant and Ben Challenger will not compete in the final of the high jump after failing to make the qualifying grade.

Women's 10,000m
Paula Radcliffe wins the first track gold of the championships with a stunning solo effort.

The Briton fails to break the 30-minute barrier, missing out by just 1.1 second. Ireland's Sonia O'Sullivan Is second in a new Irish record.

Men's shot put
Yuriy Bilonog nets gold for the Ukraine with a season's best, a throw of 21.37m. Denmark's Joachim Olsen seals silver and Ralf Bartels nets bronze for Germany.

Women's 800m
Kelly Holmes is a comfortable qualifier, winning her heat as she bids for medals in both the 1500m and 800m. She is joined in the next round by team-mate Jo Fenn.

Women's javelin
Commonwealth bronze medallist Kelly Morgan squeezes into the final of the javelin with her final qualifying throw.

Men's 100m
Darren Campbell continues the defence of his European title with victory in heat two, ahead of Portugal's Francis Obikwelu.

He will be joined in the semi-finals by Jason Gardener, the first Briton into the penultimate round after finishing second in the opening heat, and Dwain Chambers.

Chambers looks the most impressive of the trio, winning in 10.07 seconds despite an earlier false start.

Women's long jump
Britain's Jade Johnson coasts through qualifying with an opening jump of 6.60m, enough to make the women's final.

Men's 20km walk
Spain win the first gold of the championships, as Francisco Fernandez triumphs in the walk. Britain's Andrew Drake is disqualified.

Men's high jump
Dalton Grant and Ben Challenger will not compete in the final after failing to make the grade in qualifying. Grant recorded three failures at 2.15m, while Challenger could not clear 2.20m.

Women's 100m
Olympic silver medallist Ekatherini Thanu sets the pace in the heats, with a best time of 11.07 seconds.

Belgium's Kim Gevaert is the next fastest, clocking 11.19s over the sprint.

There are mixed results for Team GB as Joice Maduaka fails to make the semi-finals, while Abi Oyepitan is a confident second behind Thanu.

Men's 1500m
Commonwealth Games champion Michael East moves into the final of the 1500m as a fastest loser after a tough semi-final in Munich.

The Briton is joined in the final by compatriots Anthony Whiteman, who finishes fourth in the opening semi-final, and a struggling John Mayock, another fastest loser.

Men's triple jump
Defending champion Jonathan Edwards makes easy work of qualifying for the final, landing 16.99m at his first attempt.

However, the 36-year-old grimaces in pain afterwards, raising fears about his bruised heel.

Sweden's Christian Olsson, another of the title challengers, gets through with a leap of 17.01m.
