Bernice Wilson set the fastest time over 60m by a British woman this year

Wyberton sprinter Bernice Wilson says she is confident of success in the 100m at the UK Athletics championships in Birmingham at the end of June.

Wilson, 25, made her international debut in January and the following month was second over 60 metres at the UK Indoor Championships in Sheffield.

She told BBC Lincolnshire: "I'm in good shape and have a lot more confidence now I'm at this level.

"Competing with other top athletes really drives me on and pushes me."

Wilson, who in March set the fastest time by a British woman over 60m this year of 7.26 seconds, added: " I just have to remember what my coach has told me - have a good start, relax and keep it going for the full 100 metres."

The UK Athletics championships, which also double as the European Championship trials, take place at Birmingham's Alexander Stadium from 25-27 June.
