Kate Dennison represented GB at the Beijing Olympics |
Britain's Olympic pole vaulter Kate Dennison has set a new national record of 4.56m at the Meeting de Atletisimo in Madrid, Spain on Saturday. The Loughborough athlete's vault beat her previous record, set a fortnight ago in Portugal, by one centimetre. The 25-year-old first broke Janine Whitlock's former record of 4.47m in Prague on 8 June. Dennison finished second to Russian Aleksandra Kiryashova, jumping the same height, but losing on the countback. The Briton suffered more failures during her tense and tight duel with Kiryashova.
