 Jersey's athletes have won seven medals in the Games so far |
Jersey teenager Kathryn Rothwell won gold in the women's shot-put at the Island Games in Aland. Competing in the Wiklof Holding Arena in Mariehamn, 16-year-old Rothwell threw 11.14 metres to pip Orkney's Claire Wilson to top spot. The bronze went to Pille-Riin Toomsalu of Saaremaa with a throw of 10.89m. Rothwell's gold is the latest in a highly successful third day for Jersey, propelling the team into second place in the medals table. There was another athletics gold for Jersey in the women's 400m, claimed by Gemma Dawkins in 55.72 seconds. There was also a silver for Jersey's Peter Irving in the 110m hurdles finishing in 15.51 seconds. And 16-year old Felicity Johnson-Deeley won bronze for Jersey in the women's 1,500m with a time of 4.39.17.
