Kate Dennison broke Janine Whitlock's seven-year-old British indoor record |
Steven Lewis and Kate Dennison booked their places at the European Indoor Championships in March by winning the UK trials in Sheffield. Dennison, from Alsager, cleared a new British record height of 4.45m to win the women's event, while Lewis leapt to 5.65m to take the men's title. The previous indoor record, held by Janine Whitlock, has stood since 2002. Lewis had already cleared the UK qualifying standard height of 5.65m to book his place in Turin.
