Katie Knowles will run in the 3,000m for England next month

Truro runner Katie Knowles has been selected for the England team for October's Commonwealth Youth Games.

The 18-year-old from Truro will run in the 3,000m at the event in Pune in India from 12-18 October.

Knowles won a silver medal at the English Schools Championships earlier this year and was third at the England under 20's championships.

Knowles is one of a handful of young runners being mentored by double Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes.
