Murray Lambden in winning form |
Murray Lambden led the Manx Marathon from start to finish to claim the Isle of Man Championship and the team award in the process. "The conditions were far from ideal," said Lambden. "So to break 2 hrs 50 mins was a great result for me. I am very pleased with that." Paul Curtis of Northern Vets AC came home second, just over 10 minutes behind Murray, with Mike Garrett third. Garrett's third was enough to earn him runner-up spot in the Championship. Teaming up with Garrett and race walker Michael George, Lambden also won the team competition for the Manx Harriers. Rebecca Johnson was the winner of the women's class, and fifth overall, in 3 hrs 8 mins 52 secs, in only her second attempt at the distance. Steve Edwards finished his 454th marathon as part of his 'Marathon Challenge', coming in seventh overall in a time of 3 hrs 11 mins 17 secs.
