Paul McKee ran over 200 metres last weekend
Paul McKee ran a season's best time of 46.31 seconds in the 400 metres B race at the Stockholm Grand Prix on Tuesday.

The Belfast runner finished third in the race but was outside the 45.95 time which he needed to qualify for this year's World Championships in Osaka.

Grenada's Alleyne Francique won the race in 45.36secs ahead of Zimbabwe's Young Talkmore Nyongani (45.98).

Those behind McKee included former World Indoor Champion Tyree Washington who clocked 46.41.

McKee held off Sweden's Fredrik Johansson (46.33) to take the third-place finish.

The Belfast runner's previous best this season was 46.44 and his career best is 45.58, recorded back in 2002.

McKee, who was second to David Gillick in the Irish championships, runs again over 400m in Switzerland this weekend.

Gillick will be Ireland's only representative over the one-lap distance at the world championships.
