Hansen has battled back from a career-threatening injury |
Ashia Hansen marked her return to action after a two-year absence with second place in the triple jump at the Norwich Union European Trials. The 34-year-old Briton's career appeared to be over when she ruptured a tendon in her knee in June 2004.
But a leap of 13.65m has given her an outside chance of making August's European Championships in Gothenburg.
"It was nerve-wracking," Hansen told BBC Sport. "I'm just glad I was able to walk away afterwards."
Hansen, the reigning European champion, must wait until Tuesday to find out if selectors have included her in the British squad.
Her jump equalled the qualifying standard set by the European Athletics Association, but UK Athletics have insisted that an elite standard of 14.10m should be achieved.

However, Hansen may win special dispensation given the problems she faced over the last two years.
"It was good to just jump and show people that I can come back from injury," said the Birchfield Harrier, who has had four operations on her left knee after damaging tendons.
"I'd like another competition between now and the Europeans to get the standard. I am there or thereabouts so I'm not far off."
Tiombe Hurd, Hansen's American training partner who is seeking British citizenship, won the triple jump in Manchester with a leap of 14.15m.
Hansen's mark saw her climb to number two in the British rankings behind Jasmine Regis, who did not compete at the Trials.
