Paul McKee will not train specifically for the indoor season but is still not ruling out a tilt at the World Indoor Championships in Moscow in March. An injury and illness free winter has enabled the Belfast man to get in a "good solid two months of training".
"I'm doing endurance work at the moment," said McKee, who could run in the Irish Indoor Championships in Belfast in February.
"It's not ideal for indoors but I still might have a short indoor campaign."
The Irish Indoor tests take place at the Odyssey Arena on 18/19 February and the chances of McKee competing in his specialist 400m will increase, if the organisers opt to have two rounds in the event.
"I would like to run at the Odyssey but I will have to take a look at things nearer the time," added McKee, who won a world indoor bronze medal in Birmingham in 2003.
"The priority is obviously building towards next summer's European Championships and I need to get in plenty of endurance work over the winter in preparation for that.
"It is very difficult to do indoor and outdoors seasons in 400 metres but I haven't got a definite plan so I'm going to see how training goes over the next few weeks.
"I've had a good couple of months and hopefully things will continue to go well."
The World Indoor Championships take place in Moscow from 10/12 March.
McKee holds both the Irish outdoor (45.58) and indoor (45.99) national records.
