Surprise Olympic qualifier Tracey Morris will compete in the Bupa Great Manchester Run on 23 May as part of her preparations for the Athens Games. Morris booked her place in the Olympics by beating the qualifying standard at the London Marathon in April.
A strong Manchester field also includes world 10,000m champion Berhane Adere.
"It will be a tough challenge for her, but I imagine just the sort of speed preparation she needs," said race spokesman David Hart.
London Marathon winner Margaret Okayo will also be in Manchester, along with Benita Johnson, Australia's recently crowned World Cross Country gold-medallist.
