World record holder Tim Montgomery has pulled out of Tuesday's proposed 100m clash with rival Maurice Greene in Lausanne after becoming a father. The American is flying home to the United States after girlfriend, fellow sprinter, Marion Jones gave birth to a son on Saturday, the day before the Norwich Union International in Glasgow which Montgomery was taking part in.
Organisers had expected Montgomery and Greene to race against new US champion Bernard Williams in a top-class 100m at the Athletissima meeting.
Montgomery took Greene's record with a 9.78 seconds run at the IAAF Grand Prix final in Paris last September.
The pair had been due to compete in Lausanne last year but Greene withdrew on the eve of the event to concentrate on the Paris Golden League meeting four days later.
American Allen Johnson takes on Cuba's Anier Garcia in the 110m hurdles, while Ethiopian Kenenisa Bekele, who won the World Cross Country championship in Lausanne earlier this year, will start in the 5000m.
