Merry has had two frustrating years |
Katharine Merry has pulled out of Sunday's Norwich Union International meeting in Glasgow. Merry only returned to action last Sunday after two years out with an Achilles injury .
The Olympic bronze medallist ran a fine leg for the British 4x400m relay team in the European Cup and is refusing to rush her return.
"I thoroughly enjoyed being back on track and helping the women's 4x400m team to take second place at last weekend's European Cup," she said.
"But having tested my foot out in a hard training session yesterday, I have been advised by my medical team to take longer recovery periods between my races at the start of the season.
"I am naturally disappointed that this means that I won't be competing in Glasgow on Sunday and am frustrated that I have to make decisions about this season's racing programme on a race-by-race basis.
"My current plan does not go beyond competing in an individual 400m at the Norwich Union Super League meeting in Gateshead on 13 July."
