A first half goal from captain Albertha Sackey gave Ghana a surprise 1-0 win over Nigeria's Super Falcons in Warri.

Coach Okoo Aryee of the Black Queens said the result is an indication of what other opponents should expect from his team.

"This win is a big boost for us and we are only going to improve at every game," he said at the post-match press conference.

Fans at the Warri township stadium were displeased with the performance of the centre referee, as a second half goal by Nigeria's Perpetua Nwokocha was disallowed.

But Nigeria coach Sam Okpodu did not jump onto the bandwagon of criticism.

"This loss is an eye-opener for us and it shows that we must take every opponent seriously," Okpodu told BBC Sport Online.

"It was a good game played by two very good teams.

"Things just did not go our way but we have to recover from this and march on. Our tournament is far from over."

Four goals were scored in the first match of the day, as Ethiopia forced Mali to a 2-2 draw.

Edendgenaa Leme scored for Mali in the 20th and 44th minutes.

But the second half saw a rejuvenated Ethiopian side.

Aawwa Sso notched two strikes in the 64th and 70th minutes to earn a point for her side.

Cameroon meet Zimbabwe, while Angola slug it out with South Africa in Wednesday's Group B matches in Oghara.
