World number one Andy Roddick turned round an early break in the final set on his way to booking a semi-final with Roger Federer at the Masters Cup.
The young American beat Argentina's Guillermo Coria 6-3 6-7 (4/7) 6-3 in the Red Group, but it was not as easy in the final set as the score suggests.
Coria led 3-2 in the decider and was 40-love up in the sixth game on his serve.
However, he then lost 10 points in a row and Roddick closed the match out with two aces to set up a re-match of his Wimbledon semi-final with Federer.
On that occasion Federer played sublime tennis and downed Roddick on his way to taking the title.
In the Blue Group Wimbledon champion Federer maintained his 100% record in the tournament by hammering Juan Carlos Ferrero 6-3 6-1.
The 22-year-old Swiss star survived two break points in the sixth game of the first set and was never seriously troubled again.

World number two Ferrero did manage to save a pair of match points but netted a backhand to eventually lose a match which only lasted 54 minutes.
Spaniard Ferrero - who lost all his matches at the Masters Cup - will now concentrate on the Davis Cup final against Australia at the end of the month.
Federer said: "I'm just happy the season is ending nicely.
"I was in a tough group, so to come through so easily - the last two matches especially - is surprising."
In the other match in the Red Group, seventh seed Carlos Moya of Spain caused an upset by beating German Rainer Schuettler 7-5 6-4.
Schuettler had won both of his round-robin matches coming into the match, whereas Moya had lost his.
The German sixth seed still goes through to Saturday's semi-finals, where he will face Andre Agassi in a repeat of January's Australian Open final.
