Navratilova has now won 168 doubles titles in a glittering career

After Martina Navratilova had delighted the Dubai crowd with the 168th doubles title of her career, Justine Henin-Hardenne beat Monica Seles in a hard-fought singles final.

The top-seeded Belgian outlasted the veteran American 4-6 7-6 7-5 to claim her first singles title of 2003.

Earlier on Saturday, the 46-year-old Navratilova, partnered by Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova, beat top seeds Cara Black of Zimbabwe and Elena Likhovtseva of Russia 6-3 7-6.

The victory brought Navratilova's third doubles title in two months.

"I didn't really expect it, and I have not expected anything," admitted Navratilova.

"I just want to be good enough to get into the top ten in the world in doubles and I think we can do it."

Black and Likhovtseva broke for a 3-1 lead in the second set but their opponents recovered only to stumble when Navratilova served for the match at 6-5.

The Czech-born American served a double fault and her partner, nearly 30 years her junior, missed two straightforward volleys to allow the set to go to a tiebreak.

But Navratilova and Kuznetsova then rallied to take the set and clinch victory.

St Jude Classic

American Lisa Raymond beat South Africa's Amanda Coetzer 6-3 6-2 to defend her title at the Memphis event.

Second seed Raymond fell 2-1 behind in the second set but won the next five games to secure the win.

Raymond's victory denied third seed Coetzer's bid for a ninth WTA title and first since 2001 in Acapulco.

It was the first WTA final in nearly two years for Coetzer, who last reached a championship match in 2001 at Amelia Island.
