Skrela scored 19 points for France

"We began the game with 14 points against us and we showed we have a big heart to win this game," said Skrela, who ended the match with 19 points.

"We need to begin the game more efficiently. We have to improve to try and beat England in two weeks.

"It will be very difficult to win the Grand Slam, but who knows?"

France coach Bernard Laporte was full of praise for his team.

"Wales created many opportunities and dominated a lot of the early game," he said.

"It was a difficult first quarter but we later defended well. It was a very pleasing match and a good match to watch.

"We're very happy. It is a third victory and puts us into a good position in the tournament."

France now travel to Twickenham to play England on 11 March as the only team capable of winning the Grand Slam this season, which would be a third in five years. The French host Scotland a week later in their final round of matches.
