England flanker Lewis Moody says stand-in skipper Martin Corry reminds him of inspirational World Cup leader Martin Johnson. Corry captained the team against Italy at Twickenham on Saturday in the absence of Jason Robinson and led from the front as England won 39-7.
"Martin and Martin are both the ultimate competitors and that rubs off on us," said Moody.
"They are both very forthright in their approach and that's always very good."
After a run of four straight defeats, England were relieved to claim the emphatic victory even though they are still way off their best.
Corry's displays in what has been a disappointing Six Nations so far have been impressive and he deservedly won the man-of-the-match award against Italy.
And Moody, who plays with both players at Leicester, was impressed with the leadership shown at Twickenham by his Tigers colleague.
"It was business as usual really with Cozza, it was about hard yards out there. There was no flamboyant running or anything like that," said Moody.
"It was just a captain's performance and a matter of 'doing the dog' and at times that's what had to be done.
"You leave it to the Iain Balshaws and the Mark Cuetos to score the tries and they did that very well, thankfully.
"It's been a good atmosphere. Martin is just Martin. He's a good leader and that's the way it's been.
"His style of leadership is to lead as he plays. He says what needs saying and nothing more and that's what I enjoy about playing with him."
