Jersey's Matt Banahan was part of the England team surprisingly beaten by Kenya in the quarter-finals of the USA Sevens in San Diego. Winger Banahan, who plays for Bath in the Premiership, helped England win all their pool matches, including a 14-10 win over South Africa on the first day.
That put England through to the cup quarter-finals where they went down 17-7 to the Kenyans.
England then lost the semi-final of the plate to Fiji 21-14.
Coach Ben Ryan praised his players for the way they came back after losing all their pool matches in the New Zealand Sevens in Wellington at the start of the month, including a humiliating 21-17 loss to the Cook Islands in their opening match.

"We suffered a lot of humility on the first day of the New Zealand tournament," said Ryan.
"But we worked hard this week and I'm really pleased for the players they have regained respect.
"There's a certain amount you can do as the coach but the players have to go out there and play and on day one that's exactly what they did."
England will hope to continue to improve in time for the prestigious Hong Kong Sevens from 28-30 March.
