The Wasps flanker struggled to make any impact in the mud of Thomond Park on Saturday.
Wasps needed a huge game from their pack against Munster but Rees found it hard to exert himself in a disappointing evening for the European champions.
Munster's back-row was dominant at the breakdown, won all the scraps on the floor and generally bossed the game and if Rees wants to play a central role in England's Six Nations campaign, he will need to up his game.
