Jonny Wilkinson has not always hit his own elevated heights at this World Cup, but his return against Samoa was crucial.
The celebrated fly-half will be happy to have the old stager Mike Catt, playing in his third World Cup semi-final, alongside him at centre.
Catt's entry off the bench turned the game in England's quarter-final win over Wales in 2003, relieving the pressure on Wilkinson.
"There's no doubt that this World Cup turned for us when Jonny got back at 10," said another England World Cup winner Will Greenwood. "He feels so much more comfortable with Catty at 12."
