They are the speedsters out on the wing who bring crowds to their feet whenever they get the ball.

Modern wingers tend to come in two types - big and powerful and small and nimble - but the one thing they have in common is pace, and plenty of it.

The quickest man at the World Cup is South Africa winger Bryan Habana, who has a habit of leaving defences gasping as he scorches the length of the field to score spectacular tries.

The strongest winger on show will be Samoan powerhouse Alesana Tuilagi, but all eight men featured here pose a massive threat with their try-scoring ability.
