Beleaguered Wigan have signed 23-year-old New Zealand international prop Iafeta Palea'aesina on a three-year deal starting from 2006. Coach Ian Millward said the New Zealand Warriors player was a good one for the future, stressing his size and youth.
"It's a great success for us that he chose Wigan as I know he had offers from other British clubs," he said.
"We are well aware of our need to win matches this year, but we must still continue to build for next year."
Paleaaesina said joining Wigan was an exciting prospect.
"It's a great thrill to be joining Wigan and my good friend Jerry Seuseu," he said.
"I had several offers but Wigan is still the biggest name down here and it will be a thrill to play for them."
