Briers hopes to win Lions recall
Lee Briers
Briers still hopes to make the squad for the Tri-Nations later this year
Warrington captain Lee Briers is hopeful of winning a Great Britain recall after meeting boss Brian Noble.

Briers, who is not part of the train-on squad for the 2006 Tri-Nations, has been overlooked at national level since making his GB debut five years ago.

But Warrington coach Paul Cullen brokered a recent meeting between Noble and the 28-year-old Welshman.

"We had a really positive meeting and I thank Brian for having that meeting," said Briers, who plays at half-back.

"We got a few things straight - things for me to work on and areas where I thought I was good and could be a use to him.

"It was very positive. He gave me a few targets to hit and hopefully I'm hitting them at the moment."

Noble will announce his 25-man Tri-Nations squad next Monday, which leaves Briers just one more chance to catch his eye, Friday's Super League elimination play-off tie against Leeds at Headingley.

"A good performance and a win would do my position no harm at all," said Briers.
