Lee Briers has continued to be overlooked by Great Britain |
Former Warrington half-back John Duffy says it is a mystery why Lee Briers is not in the Great Britain squad. Duffy's National League One club Whitehaven face Warrington in Sunday's Powergen Challenge Cup fifth-round tie at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
There was no place for Welsh stand-off Briers in a 36-man GB training squad for June's Test against New Zealand.
"I think he should be in the Great Britain squad by a mile - he's on fire at the minute," said Duffy.
"I remember him taking on the Aussies single-handedly when he was playing for Wales a few years ago. I'm a big fan of Lee's."
The 25-year-old Duffy became Super League's youngest debutant when he made his Wolves bow at the age of 16, spending three seasons with Warrington from 1997-2000.
But he knows his current side faces a daunting task on Sunday in taking on the Super League powers.
