Great Britain and Wigan captain Andrew Farrell rounded off a remarkable year in style after being appointed an OBE in the New Year Honours List. Farrell, who has played for Wigan since he was 16, won both the Man of Steel and Golden Boot awards and guided the Warriors to the Challenge Cup final.
The 29-year-old also captained Great Britain on a memorable campaign before losing in the Tri-Nations final.
"I'm very chuffed - I really am made up to receive this honour," said Farrell.
Farrell is regarded as one of modern rugby league's all-time greats after a brilliant career at both club and international level.
"I have a lot of thank-yous to make to my team-mates, coaches and family for their help and support," he added.
"I am very proud and honoured."
He has been at Wigan for his entire career, and won four Challenge Cups and the Super League Grand Final as well as captaining the club for the last nine seasons.
Farrell made his international debut back in 1993 and was appointed captain at the tender age of 21.
