Chauncey Billups confirmed that his Detroit Pistons would be out to build a dynasty after their shock series win over the Los Angeles Lakers.
The NBA finals MVP paid tribute to his team-mates for shutting down LA's all-stars.
And he said that he hoped that his Pistons could stick together and defend their first title for 14 years.
"We are going to try and come back next year and defend our title and hopefully come back with the same team," he said.
"It doesn't get any better than this- for me to be the MVP is even more unbelievable. This is validation for me."
Billups scored 14 points and six assists in game five as the Pistons beat LA 100-87 to win the series 4-1.
"This is what you dream about as a kid," he said.
"There are not too many things in my life that made me feel this way, except getting married three years ago and my two kids. This is right up there with that."
The Pistons became the first team to win all three home games in the middle of a finals series, a feat which coach Larry Brown took pride in.
"The way we did it against a quality coach and a quality team, it feels pretty special," he said after finally winning an NBA crown with his seventh team.
