Higgins stunned by tenacious Dott
Graeme Dott
Dott was last year's World Championship runner-up
Scotland's Graeme Dott won the last four frames to beat compatriot John Higgins 6-5 in the semi-finals of the Malta Cup in Valletta.

Higgins stormed into a 3-0 lead before Dott took frame four.

Higgins moved 5-2 ahead but Dott won frame eight, edged the next two with clearances of 57 and 64 to draw level and won the deciding frame 61-20.

In the second semi-final, Stephen Hendry looked to be near his best as he beat Wales' Matthew Stevens 6-3.

Hendry will play in his second final in a row after being edged out 9-8 by Ronnie O'Sullivan in last month's Welsh Open.

The 36-year-old stormed into a 4-1 lead with breaks of 51, 130 and 90 but a few uncharacteristic errors allowed Stevens to narrow the lead to 4-3.

In the eighth frame, Stevens looked to have Hendry in real trouble but an excellent break of 50 put the Scot clear and he held his nerve in the final frame.

"I started like a train but then I struggled," said Hendry.

"I was going through a bit of a blip in the middle of the match but I made a big clearance for 5-3.

"My concentration had just deserted me and even at the end Matthew had a chance, so I'm pleased to have got it over with.

"Graeme is one of the most improved players on the circuit over the last couple of years. I'll be the favourite here but you have to remain focused whoever you're playing and I know it'll be tough."
