Dott thrashed Ronnie O'Sullivan 5-0 in the previous round |
Graeme Dott said he was pleased to gain revenge over Steve Davis with a 5-1 win in the Malta Open quarter-finals. Following a defeat at the Crucible in 2000, Dott accused Davis of deliberately taking long toilet breaks between frames to upset his rhythm.
Dott said: "I suppose it's water under the bridge but it fired me up."
Dott now faces fellow Scot John Higgins, who eased past Australia's Neil Robertson, the player who beat him at the Welsh Open in January.
"I was fired up for this after what happened against Neil last time," said Higgins.
"After I lost to Neil in Wales there were a couple of guys in a snooker forum on the internet saying that I was losing to players only playing their B game."
Stephen Hendry will play Matthew Stevens in the other semi-final after both secured easy wins.
Hendry beat outsider Tom Ford 5-1, completing a century break in each of the last three frames.
The 36-year-old has now made three tons in three successive frames a record
four times.
"I'm hitting the ball as well as I've ever done," Hendry said.
"It's not just about hard work but that gets your mind focused and when you
start winning matches and knocking in big breaks it breeds confidence."
Stevens beat Alan McManus 5-2.
