Coventry Blaze put a poor start to the season behind them with back-to-back victories at the Skydome.

Owen Fussey and Jonathan Weaver scored two goals each as Blaze beat Dundee Stars 9-2 in the Elite League on Saturday night.

Coventry followed it up with a 5-1 win over Sheffield Steelers in the Challenge Cup the next day.

Four goals in the final period against Steelers mean Paul Thompson's team now top Group B of the competition.

Speaking after Sunday's win, Thompson told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "That's our best performance so far.

"We've just put a third period performance in that the so-called top team in the league just couldn't live with.

"Everybody contributed today. Everybody played with an awareness and that will do our confidence the world of good.

"Hopefully our fans will see that we're making steps in the right direction."
