| Bandari claims Gordon Stakes Bandari completes a straight-forward victory Bandari dominated the mile-and-a-half Gordon Stakes at Goodwood on Tuesday, leading from the start and eventually winning by seven lengths. Ridden by Willie Supple and trained by Mark Johnston, Bandari (15-8) established a lead of two lengths from First Charter with three furlongs left. Although Izdiham came through to challenge the leading pair, Bandari kicked on and ended up winning comfortably. First Charter, the 4-1 horse ridden by Pat Eddery, was second while 7-4 favourite Izdiham, ridden by Richard Hills, was third. Bandari, who struggled at the Derby, was immediately quoted at 8-1 for the St Leger but the odds quickly dropped again to 7-2 joint favourite with Kazzia. But Johnston said: "I wouldn't necessarily say he will go for the Leger. "All options are open and I wouldn't rule out a race like the Arc as he is a very capable horse." |
