Two: Basil Dixon

The theology student returns for his third Boat Race following successive triumphs in the last two years.

Dixon has won silver and bronze medals at the national championships, and five years ago took silver in the junior world championships.

Three: Andrew Stubbs

Nationality: British Age: 23 Height: 6ft 3in Weight: 94.4kg

Stubbs, who grew up in the north-east of England, won the national schools championship (quadruple sculls) in 1997 and was British Universities Championships bronze medallist in an eight in 2002.

Last year he was the winner of an Australian Open men's bronze medal in the quadruple scull in 2003.

Four: Joel Scrogin

Nationality: American Age: 26 Height: 6ft 2in Weight: 95.7kg

Scrogin began rowing during his first year of high school in America.

He was a previous winner of the Head of the Trials - a famous American rowing race similar in length to The Boat Race.

Five: Peter Reed

Nationality: British Age: 22 Height: 6ft 6in Weight: 98.7kg

Reed began rowing at the University of the West of England in Bristol where he soon got into the first eight and became the club's president in 2002/2003.

He competed at the 2003 World U23 Championships and was fourth in the coxed four.

Six: David Livingston

Nationality: British Age: 20 Height: 6ft 7in Weight: 91.6kg

David was one of two pairs of brothers in 2003 competing in opposing crews.

His older brother James was in the losing Cambridge crew whilst Dark Blue Matt Smith competed against his younger brother Ben.

In 2001, Livingston won a bronze medal in an eight at the world junior championships bronze medallist.

He took up rowing after being inspired by the Searle brothers taking gold at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona.

Seven: Henry Morris

Nationality: British Age: 21 Height: 6ft Weight: 82.8kg

The 21-year-old's debut in last year's Boat Race ended in glory and it followed 12 months after success rowing for Isis in the reserve race.

Morris took gold in the national school championships in 2000, and in 2002 finished sixth in the coxed four at the U23 Nations Cup.

Stroke: Colin Smith

Nationality: British Age: 20 Height: 6ft 1in Weight: 77.9kg

Smith was a 2002 Commonwealth Championships gold medallist in the men's coxed four and a winner of the Fawley Challenge Cup at Henley in 2000.

He was also a runner-up in the men's quadruple scull at Henley in 2002 and 2003.

Cox: Acer Nethercott

Nationality: British Age: 26 Height: 5ft 8in Weight: 54.9kg

Nethercott has been a successful cox at various levels during his career.

He coxed Oxford to victory on his Boat Race debut last year, Isis in 2002 and the Oxford women's Blue Boat in 2000.

Acer in Latin means 'fierce, keen and eager'.
