Hitting the water Getting up at 5am to battle ice and exhaustion in an intense trials session just days before Christmas is all part of being a sport star.
Dedication like this sounds like such an old clich� that it can almost lose its meaning to us mortal human beings.
Until, that is, you get up at 5am to film a load of rowers battling through the ice, mist and nerves as they try to impress their coaches.
It was the British Winter Assessment Trials, and the BBC's Olympic Dreams cameras were at Boston Rowing Club in Lincolnshire.
