A relieved Mickey Harte acknowledged that his Tyrone side "were fortunate" to hold on to win Sunday's Bank of Ireland Ulster SFC final at Clones. "We didn't close the game out - particularly when we were sixteen eight ahead in the second half," said Harte.
"Monaghan were there for the long haul and they came back at us. It was one of those days when anything could happen.
"I wouldn't have been surprised if (he) Vincent Corey had stuck the ball in the net for Monaghan near the end."
Harte added that he was "disappointed" at his team's inability to "take better control of the game".
"But give credit to Monaghan, they didn't let go of the bone, so-to-speak, no matter where they were in the game.
"They fought back and got the few scores that we're keeping them in it.
"We weren't efficient enough with the possession that we had and we were almost made to pay very dearly for it."
