McEniff has heart surgery
Donegal football boss Brian McEniff
Brian McEniff underwent planned heart surgery in Dublin
Donegal boss Brian McEniff plans to attend Sunday's McKenna Cup semi-final against Down - inspite of having a heart operation last week.

The Bundoran-based hotelier underwent planned surgery in Dublin but officials insist that he will be back at the helm very soon.

His backroom men PJ McGowan and Michael Oliver McIntyre will take charge for the Clones contest (1400 GMT).

Both teams will be understrength for the semi-final clash.

Neither side have revealed their selections although John Gildea may shake off his regular knee trouble to line out for Donegal.

Rory Kavanagh is a doubt for the Tir Chonaill county because of an ankle injury.

Meanwhile, Armagh boss Joe Kernan has said that he plans to give captain Kieran McGeeney a roving commission this season.

McGeeney has operated at centre half-back for the county but Kernan intends to give the player a free role this year.

The Armagh boss intends to play Tony McEntee at centre half-back.
