Klaffenbock also won Saturday's sidecar opener |
Klaus Klaffenbock made it a Sidecar TT double by winning a dramatic three-lap race on Thursday afternoon. The former world sidecar champion, with Dan Sayle in the chair, overhauled Suzuki duo Holden and Winkle to clinch victory by just one second. Austrian Klaffenbock also won Saturday's sidecar opener, becoming the first non-Manx winner of a sidecar race since 2003. Conrad Harrison and Kerry Williams took the final podium position. The race began in dramatic fashion with Tim Reeves and Dipash Chauhan, Dave Molyneux and Patrick Farrance and Simon Neary and Paul Knapton all retiring on the opening lap. Molyneux pulled out at the Highlander, Reeves only made it to Glen Helen and Neary retired before the Bungalow while leading the race by 10 seconds. Gary Bryan and Gary Partridge were fourth, Greg Lambert and Jason Slous fifth and Roy Hanks and Dave Wells sixth. Klaffenbock, who had never secured a rostrum position prior to this week, recorded the fastest lap of the race at 114.15mph on his final lap.
