Farquhar aiming for UGP successes

Ryan Farquhar hopes to convert his recent winning form on the Irish national road scene into success at the Ulster Grand Prix Bike Week at Dundrod.

Farquhar will ride a Kawasaki in the Superbike races and also competes on Supersport and Superstock bikes as he looks to add to his four UGP wins.

Conor Cummins rides a Kawasaki for McAdoo Racing and Bruce Anstey rides a Suzuki, with Cameron Donald unfit.

Ian Hutchinson, Guy Martin, Keith Amor and Gary Johnson will all ride Hondas.

Farquhar heads the Northern Ireland challenge, which also includes Adrian Archibald, another four-time UGP race winner, on his privately run AMA Suzukis.

William Dunlop looks to add to his solitary Grand Prix victory, a 250cc success in 2007, having already won twice at the North West 200 in May this year.

Brother Michael hopes to add a Dundrod win to his maiden TT success in the Supersport class in June and should be a strong contender throughout the week.

Dundrod course lap record holder John McGuinness rides Superstock and Supersport Hondas for Padgetts Racing.

Guy Martin

New Zealander Anstey has yet to win an international road race this season, but with 21 successes at the major events under his belt, will be a major threat.

His Relentless TAS Suzuki team-mate Donald has recovered from a shoulder injury sustained at the TT and looks to break his Dundrod duck.

Cummins took two podiums for the McAdoo Kawasaki team in the Isle of Man and will hope to go one better than he did at the 2007 Ulster GP, when he twice finished second.

Veteran Welshman Ian Lougher, who scooped Dundrod hat-tricks in 2002 and 2005, campaigns Yamaha machinery for Team BlackHorse and should be in the running again.

The HM Plant Honda team has opted to give the event a miss but the Japanese manufacturer still has a strong representation.

Charismatic Lincolnshire rider Martin won four races on a Yamaha in 2006 but is aboard Hydrex-backed Hondas at this year's event.

Johnson, also from Lincolnshire, continues to chase his first major road win in partnership with the Uel Duncan/Robinson Concrete outfit and Yorkshire's Hutchinson could add to his one UGP win on his Padgetts Hondas.

Amor flies the flag for Scotland and should run at the front in the colours of the Wilson Craig Honda team.
