Troubling trousers, in fact, have been an issue for some time and no golfer of recent vintage can say they have no skeletons in their closet. Some have more than others. And having flagged up Peter Alliss' flares it is only fair that we show you some of BBC colleague Sam Torrance's sartorial sins.
Not many people could get away with the kind of strides Torrance wore in the '80s - we're not sure Sam was one of them.
But 1987 was a strange year, and all was forgiven when Torrance captained Europe to glory in 2002.
