Triplett is now in the top 15 on the money list |
Kirk Triplett shot a final round of 63 to clinch the Reno-Tahoe Open and his second win in 14 years on the PGA Tour. After shooting a 73 in the third round, Triplett began the final round in a tie for eighth, but he came from five strokes off the pace to earn his second title in 360 PGA Tour starts.
The 41-year-old, who won with a score of 17-under, had won just once before - at the 2000 Nissan Open.
The win was even more surprising considering Triplett had withdrawn from the USPGA Championship, missed the cut at The International and tied for 60th at the Greater Milwaukee Open in his three previous starts.
His victory also means that he moves into the top 15 on the money list.
Joint third-round leaders Tim Herron and Craig Barlow shot 71 and 75 respectively.
Herron finished second at 14-under 274, a shot better than Dennis Paulson and Rod Pampling of Australia.
