McKay is still in contention |
Overnight leader Mhairi McKay fell three strokes behind the pace after carding a third-round 75 in the US Women's Open. The Scot dropped three shots in the first six holes, but came up with a strong finish to put herself in contention for the final day.
She trails new leader 24-year-old American Hilary Lunke, who shot 68 for a five-under-par total of 208.
Texan, Angela Stanford, is one shot back at Pumpkin Ridge in Portland, Oregon.
McKay lies in a group of four in third place that includes world number one Annika Sorenstam, who fired a 67, the best round on a windy day.
I think I'm in great shape for tomorrow |
"I didn't feel I played too badly but I got a little tricked out by the wind," said McKay, 28.
"But I'm going to stay positive and I'm already looking forward to tomorrow.
"Hopefully, this is my one bad round and at least I'm still in the hunt."
Lunke had six birdies to become the shock leader.
"This feels great," she said. "I think my game suits this course because I hit it straight and that's the key."
